Dance☆man
ダンス☆マン
Hailing from the planet Mirrorball. Began his career as an artist to share the brilliance of 1970s–80s dance classics that he deeply loves. While preserving the original “groove” of these songs, he performs Japanese versions with lyrics carefully crafted to retain the feel of the English originals. His sound fuses live funk grooves with modern elements, creating a new kind of dance classic.
Debuted on March 18, 1998, with “Senotakai Yatsu wa Jama” under Avex. His disco-inspired sound soon gained attention, leading him to arrange numerous hits for artists such as Morning Musume — including their smash hit “LOVE Machine”. He received the Arrangement Award at the 42nd Japan Record Awards.
As a composer, he produced hits such as Hiromi Go’s “Nakatta Koto ni Shite”, Happa-tai’s “YATTA!”, and the ending theme “Afro Gunsou” for the anime Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsou).
In 2009, he formed the funk unit THE☆FUNKS with his brother “Dolly” from the planet Mirrorball. The group performed at major events such as Yokohama Summer Funk Festival (Yokohama BLITZ), SOUL POWER SUMMIT (Nippon Budokan), and Beat Connection (Yokohama Arena).
Since debut, he has performed in Taiwan and Germany, and in 2018, he appeared at the JAPAN FESTIVAL in Laos, where the audience included fans dressed as characters from Sgt. Frog, which was popular there.
That same year, he began composing all the music for Nyan-Chu! Space! Broadcasting Chu! (NHK E-Tele), also appearing on the show and attracting attention from children.
