Takao Kato

Takao Kato is a Japanese entrepreneur and songwriter. He is the President and CEO of SCRAP Co., Ltd.
Born in Gifu Prefecture and raised in Kyoto Prefecture. Graduated from Kyoto Municipal Horikawa High School and Doshisha University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Psychology. After graduation, worked at a printing company, which he left after a year and a half.
In January 2002, formed the pop band *Robopitcher*, serving as vocalist and guitarist, and devoted about a year to musical activity.
In July 2004, launched the free paper *SCRAP*, distributed mainly in Kyoto, to promote the indie music event *Borofesta*. Worked in editing and production through an editorial agency. (*SCRAP* ceased publication in March 2012.)
In July 2007, produced the first *Real Escape Game* event in Kyoto, which gained significant attention and led him to begin event production full time.
Founded SCRAP Co., Ltd. in 2008.
In February 2024, received the 74th Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists in the Media Arts category.
